DAHLONEGA – Mark Laishley won a third-set tiebreak in singles play, but the No. 34 University of North Georgia men’s tennis team fell to No. 4 Columbus State, 8-1, Sunday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex.

After the Cougars won all three doubles matches, the Nighthawks fought hard in singles play. Laishley won his tiebreak, 10-8, to claim the point at No. 3 singles.

UNG’s Zack Waldow forced two tiebreaks in both sets of his match at No. 4 singles, eventually falling 7-6 in both sets. Kevin Candido won his second set, 7-5, to force a third-set tiebreak where he fell, 10-7.

The Nighthawks will battle Georgia Gwinnett on the road on Thursday. First serve will be at 12 noon in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
