MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Abigail Kirkland finished in third in the 400 meter hurdles as the University of North Georgia team competed in the Berry Field Day Invitational this weekend at Berry’s Valhalla Stadium.

Kirkland ran a 1:04.59, just 1.5 seconds out of first place in the race. The time was the fastest in the Peach Belt Conference this season.

Other top-five finishes included Bree Hammond‘s fourth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:13.96), Aleah Johnson‘s fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash (1:00.07) and Emily Sims‘ fourth place finish in the 800 meter race (2:23.00). The 4×100 relay team finished in seventh, racing around the track in 49.60 seconds.

The Nighthawks will next compete in the Peach Belt Conference Championships, hosted by UNC Pembroke, April 19-21.
