(DAHLONEGA) – Another 6-1 non-conference victory was on the docket today for the No. 11 University of North Georgia women’s tennis team as the Nighthawks breezed to the win over Newberry on Tuesday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.

North Georgia secured a quick doubles point with decisive wins in all three lines highlighted by a 6-0 score in the top line by Johanna Lippert and Viktorie Wojcikova.

In singles, North Georgia claimed five of the six matches, all in straight sets as Ashley Moinard and Valentina Ascarrunz coasted to 6-2, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1 wins a the fifth and sixth line respectively.

The win moves UNG to 2-0 on the season. The Nighthawks return to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 when they travel to Rome, Ga. to face both No. 6 West Alabama (11:00 a.m.) and Shorter (3:00 p.m.).
