White County Road Dept. employees with new reflective Safety Jackets

(Cleveland)- White County has received another financial boost from grant funding. The Association of County Commissioners of Georgia has just awarded the county nearly $6,000 for employee safety training and supplies. The Employee Safety Grant was awarded through ACCG’s Group Self-Insurance Workers’ Compensation Fund.

In a news release county officials said the $5,954.54 was used to purchase tools and supplies for different departments, including first aid kits, reflective safety jackets, and vehicle backup cameras. The county also used grant funds to buy rope supplies for White County Fire Service tactical rescues.

This is the fourth year that White County has received the Employee Safety Grant. In recent years, the grant funds have been used to provide county employees with personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective work boots and to stock county facilities with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and first aid kits.

Interim County Manager Billy Pittard said,  “We are excited to once again receive these grant funds and help create a safer environment for county employees.  We thank ACCG for allotting these funds to help further our mission to provide the safest working environment for our employees.”

This marks the third government grant announcement in White County this month. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program awarded the Cleveland Fire Department nearly $1 million to buy a new ladder truck. The White County Fire Department secured a $103,950 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program to buy extrication equipment.
