MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tennessee | The Truett McConnell volleyball team lost a closely contested match to Milligan Tuesday night, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22.
In the first set, Milligan jumped out to a 14-6 lead. The Bears pulled it back to 22-16 behind two kills by Zykeria Allen andKendall Hardy, but Milligan was able to pull away with the set. Truett McConnell battled back-and-forth in the second set, leading 9-7 after trading points early. Milligan responded with a 7-0 run to take a 14-9 lead that quickly went to 19-12. TMU answered with a 7-0 run of its own to tie the set at 19-19, but the Buffs pulled away at the very end to win the second set. The third set saw the two sides trade points early again, with Milligan pulling away at 15-12. The Bears tied the match four times, from 19-19 to 22-22, but Milligan scored the final three points to get the win. Allen led all players with 12 kills in the match. Alex Brake andRebekah Mann had 14 assists each. The Bears continue their road swing on Thursday as they travel over to Toccoa Falls for a 7 p.m. match against the Eagles. |
