(LANETT, Ala.) – The Truett McConnell University women’s and men’s golf teams opened up their 2019-20 campaign at the Point University Fall Invitational on Saturday. Through the first round, the women’s team sits in first place, of six teams, while the men are in second place, of five teams.

THE WOMEN

The Lady Bears shot a 317, which is a new women’s program record, through the first 18 holes. Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan University are behind a stroke in second (318). The women are individually led by junior Faith Reddick, who is in second overall, after carding a 77. Teagan Lovingood follows Reddick tied in fourth overall with a 79 while Kiley Blackburn is tied in eighth with an 80. Freshman Brooke Krieg made her Lady Bear debut following Blackburn by a stroke (81) in 15th. Ava Rokosz placed 28th (94). Playing as individuals are Megan Edwards and Hope Hewatt who both tied in 23rd (91), and Lillian Goff who tied in 26th (92).

THE MEN

The Bears shot a 290 through the first 18 led by senior Dawson Day tied in 10th after carding a 71 while fellow seniors Matt Smith and Luke Peavy, and freshman Michael Osborne tied in 14th with 73’s. Sophomore Jhett Lewis tied in 25th with a 76.
