(KINGSPORT, Tenn.) – On Thursday, the No. 7 Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team traveled to Kingsport, Tenn. to compete in the quarter-final round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament. The Lady Bears fell to No. 2 Milligan University, with a final score of 66-44 to conclude their 2021-2022 season. TMU finished with an overall record of 18-13, 13-11 AAC, which set a new record for most wins in a single season and most conference wins in a single season.

PLAY BY PLAY
In the first quarter, the Buffaloes were the first to score, but TMU responded with a Re’Tavia Floyd three pointer. Both teams went back and forth, while a Quan Holton three-point shot, followed by an Alysee Dobbs free throw brought TMU within three points. A Camilla Callihan and Holton layup brought the score to 15-17 with TMU trailing going into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Chloe Williams was first to attack with a layup, bringing the deficit to two points. A Callihan and Sydnie Smith layup helped TMU lessen the lead, but a hot streak from the Buffaloes left the Lady Bears down 21-34 going into the half.
 
In the third quarter, the Buffaloes continued to attack on offense. Back-to-back layups and a three pointer from Holton decreased the deficit to 14 points. The Buffaloes continued to stay aggressive, leaving the Lady Bears trailing 31-55 going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Buffaloes were first to strike again. A layup from Dobbs, followed by a layup from Jessica Jackson and Sydney Rumble cut at the deficit. A three-point shot from Callihan and a jumper from Chloe Williams proved the Lady Bears final opportunity, ultimately concluding the season with a 44-66 loss.
 
LEADERS
Holton led the way with 12 points on the evening, going 2-3 from behind the three-point arc, and had six rebounds. Callihan followed with eight points, going 1-3 from behind the three-point arc and 1-4 at the free throw line. Smith and Floyd both tallied five points apiece, Smith going 2-5 from within the paint while Floyd went 2-14 from within the paint. Dobbs contributed three points, going 1-2 at the free throw line, and added two rebounds of her own.
