(DAYTON, Tenn.) – The Truett McConnell University baseball team competed in their final game of the Appalachian Athletic Conference series against Bryan College on Saturday, where TMU fell after battling the Lions a complete nine innings to a score of 13-8.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Bryan bats stayed hot in game with two home runs in the bottom of the first inning, but two individual RBIs from Mikal Mascarelli and Jacob Karvelos evened the score in second inning (2-2). The third inning saw a misplayed ball hit by Brodie Genter score Tanner Griffith to steal the lead, followed by sharp base running from Mascarello to maintain the advantage and an RBI double to get ahead by two (5-3). The Lions did not back down as they added runs of their own, stealing the lead in the sixth inning with a score of 6-12. A final effort from Genter in seventh and Jordan Kenty in the ninth proved not enough as TMU dropped the final game of the series.

LEADERS

Genter led the way going 3 for 5 at the plate with three runs and one RBI, while Williams followed going 3 for 4 at the plate and Sargent went 2 for 3 at the plate.
