(CLEVELAND, Ga.) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University men’s volleyball team hosted Morehouse College for a non-conference match-up, where the Bears proved victorious over the Maroon Tigers, 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22). TMU rises to an overall record of 3-6, while MC falls to a record of 0-5.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first set saw TMU first to score with a service ace by Nathan Hill. The Maroon Tigers quickly responded with a three-point rally, taking an early lead over the Bears. TMU continued to work together as a team to comeback from the small deficit as a four-point rally by the Bears featuring a service ace by Stephen Dixon, sent TMU ahead. Both teams continued to battle, eager to take the set win when a final kill for the visiting tea, followed by an error on the Bears, gave MC the set win, 20-25. Set two saw the Maroon Tigers first on the board with a three-point rally. The Bears did not lose heart as kills by Alex BosmanTroy McAlister, and Adam Shuman, pushed TMU ahead. TMU continued to hold on to their lead, when a late four-point rally by MC evened the game. A final service error on the opposing team followed by a kill by Bosman ultimately sealed the deal on a set two win for the Bears, 26-24.

In set three, the Bears once again were first to take the lead, featuring two kills by McAlister. TMU continued to prove to be a tough competitor as a kill by Caleb Bosveld and a solo block by Bosman extended the Bears lead by six. A last chance effort by the Marron Tigers once again attempted to take away a strong Bears lead but was not enough to disrupt a win in set three, 25-22. The fourth and final set saw a change in energy for the Maroon Tigers, as MC took an early four-point lead. TMU held firm as kills by McAlister and Dixon, kept the Bears even with MC as both teams battled for control. A seven-point rally by the Bears, featuring kills by Bosman and a solo block by McAlister, ultimately proved to be the difference maker in the game. A clutch final kill by Wensky Saintilmond from Jakob Lee ultimately allowed the Bears to finish out on top as they took the match in four sets, 25-22.

LEADERS
Bosman led the way with 16 kills and two service aces, while tallying one solo block and one block assist. McAlister followed with 13 kills and one solo block, while Bosveld had 12 kills. Saintilmond was featured recording 38 assists and 12 digs on the evening.

The Bears will travel to Laurinburg, N.C. on Friday, February 16, to take on St. Andrews University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up. Match time set for 2:00 p.m.
