DAHLONEGA – The No. 29 University of North Georgia women’s tennis team led 2-1 after doubles but fell to No. 31 Georgia College, 5-4, Wednesday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex. This was the first loss in Peach Belt play this season for the Nighthawks.

Adrienne Bofinger and Cibeles Zuddy cruised at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-1 shortly before the eighth-ranked doubles duo of Holly Bennett and Felicia Baratta won at the top flight, 8-4.

The Bobcats then went on a streak, winning the final doubles match and four of the first five singles matches to clinch the win. North Georgia’s singles wins came by Baratta at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2. Lexa Loden also claimed a win at No. 6 singles, winning 7-6 (5) and 7-5 to bring the match to its final score.

The loss snaps a five-match winning streak for UNG, but the Nighthawks still sit at 12-4 and 6-1 in league play. North Georgia will take on Flagler, looking to get back on the winning track, on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Dahlonega.
