(CLEVELAND, Ga.) – On Tuesday, the No.1 seed Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team hosted No. 5 Columbia International University for the semifinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, where the Lady Bears recorded a shutout over the Rams to secure their spot in the championship game with a final score of 3-0. TMU rises to an overall record of 16-2-2, extending their win streak to eight, while CIU falls to a record of 11-6-1.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first half began with a shot by Ashley Johnson in the first minute of regulation. TMU continued to dominate in the box, while a foul by the visiting team set the stage for a penalty kick goal by Nadiia Ivanchenko to put TMU up by one in the fourth minute (1-0). The Lady Bears controlled the game the entire half and holding the Rams to one shot, when an unassisted goal by Isabella Hodson found its place in the back of the net to put the Lady Bears up by two at the half.

TMU continued to gain momentum into the second half as shots by Brianna Hernandez and Lyndsey Darden attempted to increase the home team’s lead. The Lady Bears scored their final goal of the evening in the 77thminute, when a corner kick by Ruffa Meger found its way to Berta Lloys who assisted Johnson on a tap in shot in the box to make the score 3-0.

LEADERS
Ivanchenko led the way for the Lady Bears with one goal and four shots. Hodson followed with one goal and four shots, while Johnson recorded one goal and three shots. Lloys tallied one assist, while Eliska Dvorakova had seven shots. Meger was seen taking three shots, followed by Hernandez with two shots. Darden, Kayla BoggessElla WeirErin WardKristin Beasley and Julia Bosch each recorded one shot apiece.

TMU will host the No. 2 seed Tennessee Wesleyan University on Friday, November 10, for the AAC Tournament Championship, inside the TMU Soccer Complex. Kick-off to be announced.
