(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Reinhardt University in their conference opener on Wednesday, where a late spark from the Lady Bears ultimately was not enough as they fell to a final score of 89-71.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first quarter saw both teams even in play until a strong run gave the Eagles the advantage. Shots in the paint by Alysee Dobbs and Destinee Lovejoy worked to decrease the visiting teams lead, while back-to-back Mahalah Stewart three-pointers put TMU within five of bridging the gap. The second quarter proved a challenge for the Lady Bears as Reinhardt raised the bar, continuing to put pressure on the home team into the third quarter. The fourth and final quarter saw an increase in speed my TMU, sparked by an Alexis Brewster jump shot and a Brinkley Kate Reed three-pointer. The Lady Bears gave it their all until the final minute of regulation, ultimately not enough as RU stole the win with a final score of 71-89.
