(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team blanked Reinhardt University in dominating fashion (7-0) for their sixth straight Appalachian Athletic Conference win, which keeps the Lady Bears perfect in the AAC (9-1, 6-0 AAC). Additionally, the Lady Bears are still receiving votes in the latest NAIA national top 25.

TMU’s first goal, and only goal in the first half, took place in the 29th minute when freshman Kristin Beasley crossed the ball into the box and sophomore Sydney League finished to put the Lady Bears at a one-goal advantage at halftime (1-0). Nonetheless, TMU had just gotten started.

The Lady Bears dominated the second half accounting for six goals, on 11 shots. Junior Jennifer McCall started TMU out in the second half with a goal in the first three minutes (2-0). League was credited the assist. 16 minutes later, senior Jasmin Lanuza headed TMU’s third goal into the net on Tori Wilson’s corner kick (3-0). But three more goals happened within three minutes of each other. Jessica Lanier was the first Lady Bear to strike the ball past the goalkeeper (74th minute) and then League followed up with two of her own in the 75th and 78th minute (6-0). League was credited Lanier’s assist while Wilson and Lanier assisted League’s final two goals of the game.

Rounding out the Lady Bears’ goals was junior Breanna Barentine. Barentine netted her first collegiate goal on a corner kick two minutes left to go in regulation.

McCall led the way with four shots, two on goal, while Lanier and League followed with three apiece. Marissa Harkins, this week’s AAC defensive player of the week, Lanuza added two shots on goal. Hope Foster, the winning goalkeeper, was credited four saves on the day while Victoria Moore also earned a save.

Up next, TMU hits the road for Bluefield College Sunday, Oct. 6. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
