Ima Jean Tritt, age 84, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024.  She was born on July 5, 1939, to the late William and Myrtice Lunsford Gooch.  Ima Jean was the former owner of Small World Daycare in Marietta and Small World Country School in Woodstock. She was a pillar of her community, touching countless lives through her dedication to nurturing and educating children.

She was born and raised in the small town of Suches, Georgia, Ima Jean inherited her father’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for customer service. She often fondly recalled her days working alongside him at his general store, where she honed her skills in serving others with warmth and kindness. Ima Jean’s impact extended far beyond the walls of her daycare centers. Former students, now grownups, would often shout out “Hey Mrs. Tritt and hey Mr. Bob,” reflecting the lasting bonds she forged with each child who passed through her care. After her retirement if you went to visit Ima Jean at home you would typically find her there with a pot of beans on the stove.  If she wasn’t at home, she very well may have been out collecting an eclectic array of “stuff” from Goodwill.  Ima Jean joined Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church on September 11, 1949, and attended there before moving in 1963.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother Zelmer Gooch and son-in-law Tripp Higgins.

Ima Jean is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bob Tritt of Woodstock; daughter Leza Tritt Higgins of Woodstock; grandson Leland Higgins (Amber) of Woodstock; granddaughter Taylor Higgins Jones (Chipper) of Canton; great-grandchildren Laney Rae, Bryson Clay, Cutler Ridge, Dax Cooper and Shyler Mae.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Suches, Georgia.  The Rev. David Barton will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the service hour on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 1096 Wolf Pen Gap Road, Suches, Georgia, 30572, in her honor.
