(WALESKA, Ga.) – The Truett McConnell University softball traveled to face No. 24 Reinhardt University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears suffered their first doubleheader loss of the season to finals scores of 6-1 and 8-4.

GAME ONE | 1-6
TMU started the game strong after hitting the board first in the top of the first inning after a misplayed ball hit by Kyndall Gipson scored Rebecca Graham (1-0). The Eagles got even in the bottom of the inning, capable of adding a second three more runs to stela the lead (1-4). Inning two saw Reinhardt add a fifth run, while the Lady Bears stayed sharp, holding the home team scoreless for the next three innings. A final run from the Eagles in the fifth inning proved the last move for both teams, resulting in a 1-6 loss of the Lady Bears.

LEADERS
Jenna O’Brien led the way going 1 for 2 at the plate, followed by Gipson who went 1 for 3 with one RBI. Cassie Boatright tallied a single hit on the day, while Rachel Morgan went 1 for 3 and Graham recorded a single run. Sanders pitched through six complete innings, earned five strikeouts on the day.

GAME TWO | 4-8
The Lady Bears were first to strike once again in game two, featuring a sacrifice fly to center field hit by Gipson to score Graham from third (1-0). The Eagles evened the play in the bottom of the inning, but TMU gained momentum in the top of the third to pull ahead by two runs, featuring an RBI from O’Brien and an RBI from Gipson (3-1). The home team could not be stopped as they bridged the gap in the bottom of the third inning, while adding five more runs to make the score 3-8 at the start of the final inning. O’Brien set the stage in the seventh inning with a single, followed by Gipson who barreled up with two outs to score O’Brien from first, ultimately the visiting team’s final effort as the game ended with a score of 4-8.

LEADERS
Hailey Cronic led the way going 3 for 3 at the plate, while Gipson went 1 for 4 with three RBIs. O’Brien went 2 for 2 with one run and one RBI, while Graham went 2 for 4 with two runs.
