Sports – The Warriors got their first win of the season last night with a 20-to-7 victory over Pickens County.

As they have done in their two previous games, the Warriors were the first to put points on the board. This time thanks to a touchdown by Silas Mulligan with less than a minute to go in the first quarter. But the missed extra point would only give them a 6 point advantage.

However, early in the second quarter, Bryson Cronic would hug the sideline for a 43-yard run to the end zone. WRWH’s Drew Harris and Garrett Rowland called the action:

Later in the quarter, Zion McMullen would take away the possibility of a touchdown by Pickens County, knocking the ball from their possession only feet from the end zone. Cronic would recover the fumble by the Dragons and give White County possession with only 44 seconds left in the half and the Warriors in the lead, 13 to 0.

Early in the second half, Pickens would claim their only points of the game with a 3-yard quarterback dive into the end zone. Followed in the fourth quarter by another touchdown by Mulligan, leaping over the pile of players placing the ball just across the line.

These would be the final points of the game with a victory for the Warriors, 20 to 7.  Your Captain D’s players of the game were Bryson Chronic on offense and Alex Thornton on Defense.

Next week the Warriors will be at home going up against the Habersham Central Raiders, and you can catch all the action here on hour home of the Warriors and the Bulldogs, WRWH.
