It was senior night at Warrior field last night and riding high on their 3-win streak and their run-away victory over the Cherokee Bluff Bears last year, the Warriors did not expect to be denied all access to the end zone last night.

It started with the Bears winning the coin toss, followed only eight minutes into the game with the first of several touchdowns by Cherokee Bluff.  A fumble recovery by the Warriors looked promising, only to be turned back over by an interception by the Bears on the next play. The first quarter would end with that single touchdown, 7 to 0, Bears.

Quarter two wouldn’t show much improvement by White County, and the Warriors would allow one more touchdown by the Bears. A great defensive play by Malachi Zellars would hold Cherokee Bluff to that single touchdown, as called by Drew Harris and Garrett Rowland:

The game would enter half-time with a score of 14-0, Bears.

The pace of the game remained the same in the second half, with the Bears putting up one more touchdown each quarter, add to that a 2-point safety by Noah Davis and that would be the final score for the evening with a 30 to nothing shut-out by Cherokee Bluff.

Tonight’s Captain D’s Players of the game were Silas Mulligan on Offense and Malachi Zellars on Defense. The Warriors aren’t finished for the season though, as the first round of the GHSA playoffs will be next week and WRWH will stay with the Warriors and bring you the upcoming state playoff action with the pregame show beginning at 6 pm here on WRWH 93.9fm.
