ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – At the Peach Belt Conference banquet Thursday night, University of North Georgia women’s golfer Megan Sabol was named the PBC Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s coaches after the regular season.

Sabol is the only multiple-tournament winner in the Peach Belt this season. The sophomore from Augusta, Georgia, who came to UNG from Armstrong State, won both the Patsy Rendleman Invitational and the Lady Cougar Classic. As the PBC leader in stroke average, she is No. 16 in the Golfstat NCAA Division II individual rankings. She finished in the top 10 in eight of UNG’s nine events this year with six top-five results. Her four-under-par 68 in the second round of the Patsy Rendleman is the lowest round fired by any PBC player this season.

Sabol becomes the first Nighthawk to be named the PBC Player of the Year. She was also named to the All-Conference first team.

Sabol and the Nighthawks will hit the course tomorrow morning for the opening round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament.
