EVANS, Ga. – A second-minute goal by UNC Pembroke coupled with the defensive performance of the Braves eliminated the University of North Georgia women’s soccer team from the Peach Belt Conference tournament Friday afternoon, 1-0. The Nighthawks are now 12-4-2.

Alexis Pittman scored the match’s lone goal after a failed clearance. The Nighthawks put pressure on throughout the entire match but were unable to get many good looks at goal as the defense for UNCP played extremely well.

NOTES
– North Georgia was held to just 13 shots in the match, the lowest total since a 2-0 loss to Young Harris back on September 27. The match was also the first time UNG was shut out since the Mountain Lion match.

– Asa Thorsen led the Nighthawks in shots with four, two of which were on goal.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will wait on the NCAA Division II Selection Show set to air Monday night to see if they earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. UNG sat at No. 5 in the latest Southeast Region poll with the top six teams getting in to the tournament.
