DAHLONEGA – All four seniors found the scoring column as the University of North Georgia women’s soccer team ran past Georgia Southwestern, 10-0, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 744 Nighthawk fans in attendance Wednesdaynight. The Nighthawks improve to 9-3-2 in the Peach Belt Conference.

“It was pretty special that all of our seniors scored tonight,” said head women’s soccer coach Chris Adams. “I’ve got to give credit to our entire team for making it such a special night for those four ladies.”

Brynn Finneran was the first senior to score for North Georgia. The senior from Duluth, Georgia, scored in the ninth minute, 31 seconds after Renee VanHorn, to make the score 2-0.

McKenzie Anderson scored the next two goals off headers. Both goals came in the 27th minute of play, one assisted by Finneran and the other by Michelle Allen.

Jessi Vaverka scored the match’s sixth goal in the 43rd minute, while Allen scored the ninth goal in the 84th minute of play.

NOTES
– The Nighthawks currently sit in second place in the PBC at 6-2-0, one point ahead of Flagler.

– UNG took 46 shots in the match, the second-most in program history behind a 49-shot performance against GSW on October 11, 2014. This was the sixth time in program history that the Nighthawks have scored 10 or more goals in a single game.

– MacKenzie Brennan and Logan Martin tallied their first career goals in the match, while Asa Thorsen and McKay Shivelyalso scored goals.

The Nighthawks will play a final regular-season home match against UNC Pembroke on Saturday, October 21. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the UNG Soccer Complex
