DAHLONEGA – After competing against multiple top-20 teams to open the 2017-18 season, the University of North Georgia rifle team jumped three spots to No. 17 in the latest CRCA National Poll as announced by the association Monday evening. The No. 17 ranking matches the highest national ranking in program history.

“I am pleased to see all of the hard work that the team is putting in paying off with strong finishes and many broken records, especially so quickly,” said head rifle coach Tori Kostecki. “I expect us to continue climbing the rankings and improving throughout the season.”

Defending national champion West Virginia sits atop the poll, followed by TCU, Kentucky, Murray State and Alaska. UNG is the highest-ranked Southern Conference team in the poll and the only one inside the top-20.

The poll is determined by each team’s high score shot prior to the poll’s release date.

The Nighthawks will jump back into action with two competitions this weekend, starting with a Saturday match against Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia.
