Tropical Storm Watch

(Cleveland)- A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Northeast Georgia which includes White County.  This means Tropical storm wind conditions are possible somewhere within this area and within the next 48 hours.  

The latest forecast says peak winds 25- to 35 mph, with gust to 45 can be expected. Forecasters say damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible.  Additionally trees, roadway signs and some fences may be blown down.  You are also reminded that scattered power and communications outages could occur.  

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect with 3-5 inches of rain expected, with locally higher amounts possible. Right now forecasters say the situation is unfavorable for tornadoes but  heavy showers and thunderstorms with strong gusty winds may still  occur.
