(BEKLEY, W.V. ) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University wrestling team traveled to compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Duals, where the Bears bested St. Andrews University (41-17), Montreat College (28-24) and West Virginia Institute of Technology (39-18), and fell to Reinhardt University (59-0).

Most notable, junior Ethan Powell secured three pins, which were all won in the first period of each match, followed by junior Mitchell Thompson who recorded three pins of his own with one at the 2:33 mark in the first period against WVTech. Senior Ian James dominated with two pins and a major decision win of 13-3 over Montreat, while sophomore Hans Evatt had one pin over Montreat (0:57), Brandon Navixay had a technical fall over St. Andrews (16-0), freshman Mason Johnson had a single pin over St. Andrews (6:16) and sophomore Chase Bond had a decision win of 6-4 over WVTech.

Up next, the Bears will travel to compete in the Seahawk Duals, hosted by Keiser University, on Saturday, Jan. 29.
