(ATHENS, Tenn. ) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women’s lacrosse team traveled to compete in their final match-up of the regular season against Tennessee Wesleyan University, where the Lady Bears put up a fight but ultimately fell to a final score of 20-6.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

In the first quarter, the Lady Bears were first on the board with goals by Shelby Nail and Madison Franklin (2-0). The Bulldogs responded with goals of their own, but two more goals by Nail and Sophie Beach kept the Lady Bears in the game trailing by one (5-4). In the second quarter, eager to increase the gap, TWU put up six more goals, forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind (11-4).

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears were first to attack with a goal by Franklin as the Bulldogs responded with goals of their own (17-5). The fourth quarter saw a last chance effort by Franklin as she scored another goal, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to secure the win, falling to a final score of 20-6.

LEADERS 

Franklin led the way with three goals, taking three shots on goal and one ground ball. Nail followed with two goals, taking five shots, four on goal and five ground balls. Beach had one goal, taking two shots on goal and one ground ball. Goalie Mackenzie Tyler had nine saves on the day and eight ground balls.
