(COLUMBIA, S.C. ) – On Thursday-Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men’s track and field team traveled to compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and field championship, hosted by Columbia International University. The Bears were featured finishing in fourth place overall out of 13 teams after recording 82.5 team points, featuring four podium finishes.

In the field events, Austin Mathis secured a second place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.43m. In the running events, Christian Strickland finished second in the 400m hurdles (55.70 seconds), while the 4x400m relay team, featuring Nathan NixBryson SwartzElijah Nelson and Strickland finished in second (3:23.20) Tyler Crow was featured finishing third in the men’s decathlon with a final score of 4397 points through 10 events.

Up next, TMU will travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to compete at the Lee University Last Chance Meet, set for Friday, May 10.
