(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team hosted Carolina University for a non-conference matchup, where the Lady Bears dominated on the court to take down the Bruins (62-41). TMU rises to a record of 3-9, while the Bruins fall to a record of 4-4.

PLAY BY PLAY
The Lady Bears were first to score with a layup from Camilla Callihan, followed by layups from Sydnie Smith and Quan Holton. Both teams were evenly matched, but a shot in the paint from Holton and a three-pointer from Re’Tavia Floyd gave TMU the advantage (14-11). In the second quarter, a jump shot from Holton and a fastbreak layup from Gwyn Andrews added to the Lady Bears’ lead. A shot behind the three-point arc from Smith paired with a jump shot from Kacie Williams saw the Lady Bears ahead by five going into the half (28-23).

In the third quarter, back-to-back layups from Holton and Callihan created a large deficit. Shots from Callihan, Floyd, and Tia Shelton continued to add to the Lady Bears’ lead, sending TMU into the final quarter with a heavy 16-point advantage (48-32). In the fourth quarter, free throws from Jordyn Wilder and Chloe Williams added to the score, along with a layup from Destinee Lovejoy. In the final minutes, a final shot behind the three-point arc from Asia Gant ultimately secured a Lady Bears 62-41 victory over the Bruins.

LEADERS
Holton led the way with 15 points, going 6-11 in the paint with nine rebounds. Callihan followed with 11 points, going 5-9 in the paint and 1-3 at the free-throw line. Floyd recorded 10 points, going 2-2 at the free throw line, while Smith tallied five points and four rebounds. Lovejoy had four points of her own, along with eight rebounds.
