(CLEVELAND)- The Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Union College, where the Bears fell by one in a grueling match-up with the Bulldogs (2-1). TMU falls to a record of 7-5-2, 4-5-1 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first period, the Bears were aggressive from the start with a corner kick from Oscar Brennan, followed by a header from Lucan Yates that missed wide. A shot on goal from Will Fraser-Gray and a shot on goal from Hendrik Metjie sparked the momentum. The Bulldogs were just as aggressive with multiple shots on goal of their own. In the final minutes, a shot from Fraser-Gray missed just high, sending the teams into the half (0-0).
 
In the second period, the Bears worked quick and in the 67th minute Oscar Brennan, assisted by Max Farris, scored TMU’s lone goal of the day (1-0). The Bulldogs retaliated immediately with their first goal to make the score even (1-1). Union did not back down as they scored their second and final goal of the day (1-2). The Bears persisted with two corner kicks from Nour Alamri and a shot from Yates that missed wide, but ultimately fell short 1-2.

LEADERS
Brennan led the way with one shot, one on goal, and one goal. Fraser-Gray followed with three shots, one on goal. Farris recorded one assist on the day. Keeper Daniel Santema recorded five saves on the day.

The Bears hit the road to face AAC rival Reinhardt University on Wednesday, October 19. Kickoff is TBD.
