(Cleveland)- White County School System released a  statement Thursday afternoon updating parents and the community on a situation involving a threat at the Middle School in Cleveland. 

The White County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday night that it was investigating a threat made against the county’s school system.

In a social media post, the sheriff’s office said it is being assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in the case. 

A Thursday afternoon an email from Allison Funk with the White County School System advised that the investigation determined that the threat was unfounded. 
In the statement, Funk said   “The White County School System takes the safety of our students, staff, and community very seriously.  As a result of the investigation, it has been determined that the threat was unfounded. We would like to thank our Sheriff’s Office for its swift and thorough investigation. “
