scam alert10/27/2014

(Cleveland)– The scam artist are back at it again.  White County Authorities are again warning residents about a phone scam that is currently being conducted in the area.

White County Sheriff Neal Walden said it’s the same folks that were calling residents earlier this month telling them they missed jury duty and a bench warrant has been issued for their arrest.  The bench warrant would be relieved with the payment of a fine by a prepaid debit card purchases at Rite-Aid and they need to call back within an hour.

Sheriff Walden said the scammers are now using the name of one of his officers when they call.  The advise from officials is the same this time around, if you receive such a call, don’t hesitate to be rude and hang up on the caller and then report that to the sheriff’s office.
