(Cleveland)- White County Environmental Health officials report another case of rabies in the county.   Sean Sullivan  White County Environmental Health Manager  said Thursday  the latest incident involved a  lady  coming in contact with a rabid cat, in the Sky Lake area.

“ It was an individual, it was a stray and she was taking care of it.  I think she had it for a couple of days, then just out of the blue it bit her and we filed a report, and I think it ended up biting her again, “ said  Sullivan.

He said, the cat was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab – Virology Section in Decatur and the results came back yesterday that the cat tested positive for rabies.   This is the fourth confirmed case of rabies in White County this year and the first in a while in the northern part of the county,  “ the most northern part,  we had one at Innsbruck a couple of years ago.”

Positive  alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid cat was located and Sullivan said, they also have some information fliers that the public can pick up at his  office.
