Billy Pittard, White County Manager

(Cleveland)- White County Board of Commissioners made it official Monday afternoon by approving a contract with Billy Pittard for the position of County Manager. Pittard has been serving as Interim Manager since May and has become the fourth full-time county manager White County has had in two years.

White County Commission Chairman Travis Turner in detailing the contract with Pittard said he has met the residency requirement and the base salary will be $154,000, with 220 hours of personal time off and the use of a county vehicle.

Pittard brings a wealth of experience to the position serving as Barrow County Operations Manager and Interim County Manager. Prior to his Barrow County tenure, Pittard was the full-time, elected Chairman / CEO for the Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners where he had also been the Public Works Director before being elected to Chair. Pittard also served as the President of ACCG (Association of County Commissioners of Georgia) for the 2019-2020 term.

Chairman Turner expressed confidence in Mr. Pittard’s abilities, stating, “We are excited to welcome Mr. Pittard as our County Manager. His leadership and community-oriented approach make him the ideal candidate to help us address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

As County Manager, Mr. Pittard will oversee the day-to-day operations of White County government, work closely with county departments, and collaborate with the Board of Commissioners to develop and implement policies and initiatives that benefit the residents and businesses of White County.

Pittard said, White County is a good fit for him, has a good staff and dedicated county commissioners similar to where he grew up  and he plans to stay around for a while, “ so there’s a lot of things here that just make this attractive to me, I mean I wasn’t looking for a job, it had to fit, and that is one of the reasons I didn’t stay in Barrow County any longer than I did,  it just wasn’t a fit and this is and I’m happy to be here.” Commented Pittard.
