(Cleveland)- Officials say an elderly man escaped serious injury Friday afternoon in a vehicle accident on private property in the city of Cleveland. Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said, the victim pulled his car off Campbell Street onto a private drive. As the man started to exit the vehicle it began to roll, knocking him down.
According to Pruitt, the vehicle then rolled across Campbell Street through the yard next to Glenda’s Restaurant. In the process the vehicle struck an LP gas tank, knocking it over, and coming to rest against a parked vehicle. Pruitt said, when the vehicle knocked over the gas tank it caused a small leak.
Cleveland Fire Department secured the area, until a gas company employee arrived and stopped the leak.
Good gosh, does nth Cleveland Fire department not have anybody who is smart enough to turn the valve on the tank off?
Hey Mr. Smith, I noticed what you are talking about, “Cleveland Fire Department secured the area, until a gas company employee arrived and stopped the leak.”, but we have to remember gas leaks don’t happen that often in small towns, so it gets people excited and firefighters are just people. When people get excited they often forget the simple solutions, it’s just human nature.
Dear both of you! It didn’t say the line was leaking it said the tank was leaking! Stop talking about people as though they are idiots before you know the story. It may be you that is the idiot. Should we take a look at how assume is spelled? Just food for thought. …..
Gorden Cantrell, Just to set the record straight here I am both LP gas and Haz-Mat certified from the Georgia Fire Academy. Additionally I am a GFA instructor and I hold 3 engineering degrees. It just so happens these valves are protected by the dome and the line is the weakest link just for this very reason. If the tank had been leaking, or the valve broken the gas company employee could not have stopped it So before you go try to attack someone calling them an idiot you need to weigh how much you really know about a subject compared to the person you are attacking. Additionally my post was to defend the fire department from the first post not to talk badly about them. I fail to understand how anyone could have taken what I said any other way.
