DAHLONEGA – After a pregame ceremony honoring the only Nighthawk tennis senior, Felicia Baratta, the No. 28 University of North Georgia women’s tennis team defeated No. 45 Flagler, 6-3, Saturday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex.

UNG took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, winning at the second and third flights. Vaishali Jorge and Emma Etelalahti won handily at No. 2 doubles, 8-1, while Cibeles Zuddy and Adrienne Bofinger held on for an 8-6 win at No. 3.

Jorge kept things going in singles play, winning in straight sets at No. 4 singles shortly before Flagler took the top singles match to bring the match to a 3-2 score. Holly Bennett and Bofinger put the match away, winning at Nos. 3 and 2 singles, respectively, in straight sets to clinch the match.

North Georgia has now guaranteed themselves at least a top-four seed in the upcoming Peach Belt Conference tournament, which begins on Friday, April 20.
