(GREENWOOD, S.C. )– The No. 23 University of North Georgia women’s golf team finished in third at the Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational Tuesday afternoon. In the 22-team field, the Nighthawks’ combined score of 921 left them seven shots out of fifth-place Lander. Wingate won the event with a 38-over-par combined score of 902. Following the Bulldogs in the top-five was Lee in second at 906, Limestone in third at 909 and Montevallo in fourth with an overall score of 911.

Lee graduate student Supuschaya Srichantamit won the individual portion of the event with a four-over-par score of 220 over three rounds at the par-72 Greenwood Country Club.

For the Nighthawks, junior Ellie Rippee led the way with a combined score of 229 to finish T24. The McKinney, Texas native posted her best round of the tournament Tuesday with a two-over 74, highlighted by a pair of birdies at holes 15 and 2.

Grad student Amari Smith was closely behind Rippee with a T29 finish after rounds of 79, 79 and 74 to finish with a 232 total score.

Junior Jadin Ware finished a few spots shy of her teammate Smith at T31 with an overall outing of 233.

Now the Nighthawks look forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Bracket Challenge in two weeks at Chimney Oaks Golf Club. The event hosts eight teams in a bracket-style format in Homer, Ga. on Monday, Apr. 8 and Tuesday, Apr. 9.

Last year, in the inaugural Bracket Challenge, UNG finished second in the field.
