(CLEVELAND, Ga) – On Wednesday, the No. 19 Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team went face to face with Appalachian Athletic Conference rival, Reinhardt University, inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The Lady Bears fell short with a heartbreaking score of 3-1, as the Eagles extended their win streak to 11. TMU fell to a record of 12-2, 9-1 AAC, while the Reinhardt rose to a record of 11-2, 11-0 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears dominated at the start, with a shot from Hannah Logue and a shot from Ella Weir. TMU was capable of earning three corner kicks within the first eight minutes of regulation, while Eliska Dvorakova had two shots on goal. The Eagles recorded the first goal of the evening in the 16th minute (0-1), followed by their second goal in the 25th minute (0-2). The Lady Bears continued to take shots and work hard on defense, but a third goal for RU was scored in the 32nd minute (0-3).
The second period saw the Lady Bears with two shots and a corner kick in the 48th minute. The Eagles were resilient and continued to take shots of their own, but in the 77th minute, a foul in the box offered Ashleigh Smitherman the perfect opportunity to put TMU on the board from a successful penalty kick shot (1-3). The Lady Bears gained momentum to take multiple shots, ultimately not enough as the Eagles prevailed with a final score of 1-3.

LEADERS
The Lady Bears outshot the Lady Eagles 21 to nine, with 12 shots on goal, opposed to 6 shots on goal.
Dvorakova recorded four shots, four on goal, while Weir recorded five shots, one on goal. Smitherman had the only goal of the evening, along with two shots, two on goal. Goalie Emelie Taylor had three goal saves, totaling 19 on the season.
