(CHOHUTTA) – On Monday-Tuesday, the No. 16 Truett McConnell University women’s golf team traveled to compete at the Roadrunner Invite hosted by No. 2 Dalton State, where the Lady Bears came in fourth out of 14 teams, with a team score of 921. Dalton State was crowned invite champion with a final team score of 873, while TMU was seen besting No. 5 University of the Cumberland’s (8th), No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan University (6th), No. 10 Taylor University (5th), No. 17 SCAD Atlanta (9th), No. 18 University of Northwestern Ohio (7th), No. 19 Bethel (10th) and No. 25 William Penn University (11th).

“This could possibly be the best regular season tournament the ladies have played,” said Head Coach Steve Patton. “I could not be prouder of them! We learned a valuable lesson last week when we were in 4th after 2 rounds and did not finish well. We took that lesson into today and focused on what we can control, and it worked out beautifully. It is a joy to coach these ladies! We had all five girls shoot multiple rounds in the 70’s during this event which was awesome.”

Madison Panter led the way for the Lady Bears finishing tied in fourth after shooting an impressive 72 in round one, 73 in round two and a 78 in round three.

“Madi played three incredible rounds of golf to make the all-tournament team in a field loaded with players ranked in the top 150 in the nation,” said Coach Patton.

Sylken November followed up tied in 15th, shooting a 77, 78 and 76, while Mary Grace Davidson shot a 76, 79 and 79. Jala Stamey recorded a 79, 80 and 77, followed by Audrey Grace Holder who rounded out TMU’s results with a 78, 84 and 77.

Up next, the Lady Bears will head to Greenville, Tennessee on Monday, April 17-Tuesday, April 18, to compete at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Direct Qualifier.
