DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia women’s tennis team opened up Peach Belt play by beating Augusta Tuesday, 6-1, at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.

UNG swept the doubles in business-like style, winning two of the three matches to a score of 6-3. The No. 2 pair of Adrienne Bofinger and Emma Etelalahti found themselves in a tough match, but the duo pulled through with a 7-5 win.

Singles play saw only one loss for North Georgia and two three-set wins. Holly Bennett earned the match win for North Georgia, coming back after a first-set loss to win her match at No. 3 singles in three sets.

The Nighthawks will resume their season on Saturday, when they travel to Tennessee to battle Carson-Newman at 2 p.m.
