(Cleveland)- White County Sheriff’s office has four new officers patrolling the county and Sheriff Rick Kelley introduced them to the media Friday morning.

Deputy Erin Thomas and her K-9 Henzo along with John Thomas and K-9 Skuter.

According to Sheriff Kelley, Henzo was purchased from the Riverdale Police Department and Skuter from Clayton County Police.  Kelley said no tax dollars were used to make the purchases, both dogs were funded using seized assets money along with citizen contribution to get equipment needed. He said they fill a need in the department in combating the drug local problem.  Those dogs are just a valuable tool for our patrol deputies to have access to while they are on their shifts, ” said Kelley.

Henzo has been trained for drug intervention and tracking while Skuter is a drug, tracking, and apprehension dog.

Kelley said the Thomas’s are filling existing positions within the department.

The K-9’s have only been with the department for a short time and Sheriff  Kelley said  Henzo has already helped Cleveland Police make an arrest and Skuter has assisted with a couple of drug arrests.
