(MOBILE, Ala. ) – The Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team traveled for a non-conference match-up against the University of Mobile, where the Lady Bears fell short in the final minutes to a score of 44-50. TMU falls to a record of 3-10, while the Rams rise to a record of 7-8. 

PLAY BY PLAY
The Lady Bears were quick to score with a shot in the paint from Alysee Dobbs. The Rams took created a gap with shots of their own, but a layup from Dobbs and Jordyn Wilder kept TMU within margin.  A three-pointer from Asia Gant and a jump shot from Jordyn Webster sent TMU into the second quarter, trailing by two (13-15). In the second quarter, the Lady Bears saw a layup from Kacie Williams and Faith Lovejoy, followed by a three-point shot from Gant to send TMU into the half down 20-28.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears sparked their momentum with three consecutive layups from Dobbs, while back-to-back shots behind the three-point arc from Tia Shelton gave TMU speed going into the final quarter (32-38). In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears started strong with a three-point shot from Gant. The Rams continued to add to their lead, but layups from Dobbs brought TMU within three. A final layup from Quan Holton proved not enough as the Lady Bears fell short, 44-50.

LEADERS
Dobbs led the way with 14 points, going 7-14 in the paint with eight rebounds. Gant followed with nine points, going 3-6 from behind the three-point arc. Shelton recorded six points, going 2-5 from behind the three-point arc, while Williams tallied five points, going 2-4 in the paint with four rebounds.

The Lady Bears remain on the road for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up on Tuesday, January 3, against Columbia International University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
