(Cleveland)- Kofi Rogers had a special birthday observance Monday as the Cleveland City Council approved a proclamation designating Monday, May 13 as Kofi Isiah Rogers Day in the city.

During the city council meeting, Mayor Josh Turner read the proclamation that told the story of how Cleveland business owners Dustin and Kim Rogers first met infant Kofi Rogers at an orphanage in Ghana while on a mission trip there. The couple’s process of adopting Kofi took over six years, but in May of 2023 the Rogers family was officially matched and the adoption process was completed in December of 2023.

On Monday, the 7th birthday of Kofi, the city council approved the resolution designating the special day

The Roger’s have two other adoptive children Emma and Owen.
