Mr. Johnny Lawrence Chambers, age 79, of Dahlonega passed away Friday, January 7, 2022.

Mr. Chambers was born in Hall County on February 15, 1942, to the late M.P. and Lizzie Boggus Chambers.  He was a beloved father to his children and “Papa Johnny” to his grandchildren.  Mr. Chambers loved to hunt and fish.  His favorite pastime was taking a ride in the mountains. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Doris Chambers, granddaughter Samantha Stewart, siblings Monroe Chambers, Dennis Chambers, Myrtice Priest, Martha Barton, Mary Youngblood, Clarence Chambers, Barbara Abercrombie, and Genell Stringer.

Survivors include his sons Gunnery Sergeant Edward L. Chambers USMC (Retired), North Carolina; Mitchell Chambers (Yongmi); Robert “Porky” Chambers (Tammy); daughter Tracey Knight (Kevin), all of Dahlonega; brother Sam Chambers (Joyce);  grandchildren Brad Chambers, Ashley Chambers, Brandi Chambers, Eric Chambers, Johnathan Chambers, Natasha Enos, Cody Chambers, Kadie Chambers, Joshua Sanders, James Stewart, Kyler Stewart and Katelynn Brown; great-grandchildren, Grayson Enos, Malena Brown and Willa Sanders; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, January 10, 2022, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.  The Rev. Tim Hicks and the Rev. Tony Holtzclaw will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Sunday and 10:00 AM until the funeral hour Monday at the funeral home.
