(Cleveland)- With some sections of northeast Georgia now seeing increases in business and industrial activity the White County Development Authority wants to make sure the county is ready and equipped to handle any interest shown to our area. The development authority conducted a work session to deal with just that issue this week and Development Authority Chairman Tom O’Bryant said, they want to create development opportunities for businesses and industry that might look our way.
O’Bryant said, several area counties are already seeing an increased interest, “ some counties are a little bit more proactive and we are seeing that from some of our neighbors. “We want to make sure that we are proactive and we’re competitive , so we are competing for businesses that might be moving into the area and looking for an ideal location, “ said O’Bryant.
The authority would like to create some ways to generate income back to the county, so they don’t have to rely on contributed tax dollars. The authority would also like to work with local banks to develop some low interest loans, utilize limited SPLOST tax dollars that have been designated for economic development and survey other counties to see what is happening with them.
O’Bryant said, when a prospect comes calling we want to have land and or buildings for them.
