Police Chase(Clarkesville)- A Cleveland man faces numerous charges after a low-speed chase through Habersham and White counties Saturday afternoon.

Habersham County Deputy Sheriff Brandon Holcomb pulled over a vehicle at Mineral Springs and Ga. 115, said Lt. Matt Wurtz. As Holcomb exited the vehicle, the driver accelerated and fled onto Ga. 115.

Wurtz said the fleeing vehicle turned left onto Ga. 254.

“The driver intentionally attempted to hit another vehicle head-on,” Wurtz said.

The vehicle then turned left onto Ga. 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) and continued, pulling into his driveway near Coker’s Sale Barn, Wurtz said.

Holcomb ordered driver Alan Keith Hudson of Cleveland out of the vehicle, but Hudson refused.

Because Hudson continued not to comply with orders, Holcomb deployed his taser and was able to get the driver out of the vehicle, Wurtz said.

Hudson is charged with driving under the influence (pending), failure to maintain lane, driving while unlicensed, fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, open container, and obstruction, Wurtz said.

Hudson “didn’t get over 45 mph and the chase traveled only a short distance,” Wurtz said. “Apparently he just decided he needed to get back home.”

The obstruction charge was related to Hudson’s refusal to exit the vehicle and having to be tased, Wurtz said.

After being checked by EMS personnel, Hudson was taken to the Habersham County Detention Center, where he remained Saturday night.
