(Clarkesville)- A Cleveland man was arrested after a brief chase from Habersham County into White County Friday night. The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office reports that Habersham HEAT Unit Sgt. Kris Hall observed a truck and another vehicle traveling almost 30 mph over the posted speed limit on Ga. 105 at 8:48 p.m.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Rob Moore said, When Hall attempted to pull over the Ford pickup truck, the driver continued at a high speed and ran the stop sign at Ga. 105 and Ga. 115, then passed a vehicle on a double yellow line entering White County.

As the driver attempted to turn the truck left onto Ga. 254, it traveled through the grass at Chattahoochee Grocery, narrowly missing a large steel signpost. The truck then continued across Ga. 254 along the driveway of the Dollar General store before jumping the curb and coming to rest in a ravine.

Moore said, there was no contact between the truck and Hall’s patrol vehicle.
