(CLEVELAND) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men’s basketball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Johnson University, inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. The Bears dominated on the court, resulting in a 77-64 victory over the Royals. TMU’s record rose to 7-4, 5-4 AAC, while the Royals fell to 4-8, 2-6 AAC.
 
PLAY BY PLAY
In the first period, the Bears were the first to score on a jump shot from Brent Kelly. The Royals retaliated with shots of their own, leaving the lead close in range. The game was back and forth until a jump shot from Enocka Franky allowed the Bears to break away with the lead (6-2). The Bears continue to increase their lead with six consecutive jump shots (20-4). The Royals slowly chipped away at the Bears lead (23-30), until Cory Seitz made two back-to-back shots in the paint. A jump shot from Kelly sent the Bears up 33-24 going into halftime.

In the second period, the Royals continued to work at the Bears the lead (33-30). KJ Riley added to the Bears score after back-to-back free throws (39-35). TMU was hot through the final two minutes with seven shots in a row (74-59). Riley had a dominating dunk during the Bears seven shot stretch, ultimately securing the win with a final free throw from EJ Smith (77-64).  

LEADERS
Most notable, Enocka Franky recorded 22 points and nine rebounds, followed by Kelly who finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Riley recorded 11 points, three steals and went 7-9 at the free throw line. Seitz had 11 points and six rebounds, while Raul Arias-Ortega had six points.

The Bears remain inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Tuesday, December 14, to face Florida College, with a tipoff set for 11:00 a.m.
