The Bears took on the Bruins from Bob Jones University Saturdayat noon. After the scoreless draw in extra time in their previous match, the Bears were hoping to get back to their winning ways. Likewise, the Bruins were also hungry for a good result having lost their prior two games.

It did not take long for the Bears to knock in the first goal of the match. In the eleventh minute Frederico Divino played a ball into Joao Costa who was able to secure the match’s first score. Unfortunately for the Bears, this would be the only shot out of their sixteen attempts that would result in a goal in the half. The Bears’ defense played well in only allowing the Bruins to attempt two shots throughout the period, none of which scored giving the match a 1-0 going into the break.

The Bears were eager to build on their lead going into the second half, but it would be some time before they were able to do so. Over time the Bears saw more chances and in the sixty-second minute Costa was able to convert on one of those chances and double the bears lead to 2-0. Credit to the Bruins however, they did not give up and were able to cut into the lead with a goal of their own in the eightieth minute. The one goal would be the only one they would allow and the game would end with a 2-1 score in favor of the Bears.

“Another win against a good side keeps us undefeated at home. It’s a record we are proud of and hope to keep for the remainder of the season,” said Coach Rob Miller. Looking forward, Miller went on to say, “We have a five-game stretch until the regular season is over and all 5 are very important conference games.” The Bears’ next match will be Wednesday October 11 at home against Point University at 4pm.
