White County Sheriff K-9 Jelly pictured with drugs confiscated in Monday night traffic Stop

(Cleveland)- A traffic stop in White County Tuesday night resulted in a 53-year-old Alto man being arrested on Drug charges.

White County Sheriff Rick Kelley said October 30th at around 7:30 pm, a White County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a red Chevrolet truck for speeding on the Helen Hwy just north of the Appalachian Parkway.

During the traffic stop, the sheriff said, the deputy smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle.  A White County K9  unit was requested and K-9 Jelly alerted on the vehicle.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found three pounds of Marijuana and over six ounces of mushrooms. Sheriff Kelley said 53-year-old Richard Lyle Dickens of Alto, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged with Trafficking Schedule 1 Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

Dickens remains in the detention center, bond has not yet been set.
