(Cleveland)- Figures released Thursday by the Georgia Department of Labor show White County’s preliminary unemployment rate in September was 1.6 percent, which is down four-tenths of a percentage point from the revised August rate.
The labor department said in September the labor force in White County was 16,983, of those 16,719 were employed while 254 were unemployed. A year ago the rate was five percent.
The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission area, which included White County the September preliminary unemployment rate was down five-tenths to 1.8 percent over the month.
