Sports – Victory was in the air last night at Warrior Field as White County defeated Cherokee Bluff 5-1 in game one of the series.

It seemed that both teams were being cautious early in the game, as the first three innings went scoreless, however that came to a sudden change in the bottom of the fourth with a bunt by Dylan Sargent. A follow-up sacrifice bunt by Mayo would advance Sargent into scoring position, who then scored on a line-drive double by Patterson.

The two consecutive walks by the Bears that followed would trigger a conference on the mound for Cherokee Bluff and load the bases for White County.

J.Ben Haynes was up next to the plate with a long line drive giving him a three-run double to bring the number of runs for White County to 4.

Drew Harris called the action:

The Warriors and the Bears would each put one more run on the scoreboard, and after six and one-half innings, White County would take the win, 5-1.

The Warriors will be in Flowery Branch for game 2 of the set and will return home on Friday for Game 3, which will be their final regional game of the season. White County will claim the #2 seed position with a win in either of those games.
