AUGUSTA, GA | The University of North Georgia women’s golf team placed a league-best four players on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic squad which was released on Thursday morning by the conference office.
Taylor Allen,
Shelby Hanna,
Aly Hicks and
Carrilee Hiers were each honored for their dual accomplishments on the course and in the classroom.
UNG’s four honorees edged out UNC Pembroke and Flagler who sported three apiece.
Allen, a sophomore Management major, joined Columbus State’s Courtney Lowrey as the only players to carry a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Hannah is an Exercise Science major with a 3.58 GPA. Hicks carries a 3.36 GPA in Pre-Nursing classes while Hiers has sported a 3.64 GPA in Criminial Justice.
The All-Academic team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
